Install Exile mod on ArmA 3 server

This guide is written to work with the version Exile 0.9.19 (BANANA).
The following steps explain how to install the Exile modification on a normal ArmA 3 Gameserver:
Required software:
- FTP program (e.g. FileZilla)
- Text editor (e.g. Notepad++)
- PBO Manager
- cfgConvert
ArmA 3 Server installation
- Possibility 1: Nitrado.net > Order Service > Publicserver Basic > Game "ArmA 3" > Order now
- Possibility 2: Open the server's Webinterface > Game Management > Install ArmA 3
- Stop the Gameserver
Download Exile Mod
- The mod's client and server files can be downloaded from the official website. In order to join the server, the Exile mod files need to be installed on the PC too.

- Server files: http://acp-cdn.vilayer.com/exile/@ExileServer-0.9.19.zip
Install / upload the client files
- Unzip the downloaded "Exile-0.9.19.zip" archive.
- Upload the "@Exile" to the resource directory of your Gameserver (folder: arma3).
- The path should look like this: /arma3/@Exile/
Install / upload the server files
- Unzip the downloaded "ExileServer-0.9.19.zip" archive.
- Migrate the folders "keys" and "mpmissions" with those already on the server.
- The respective paths are: /arma3/keys/ and /arma3/mpmissions/
- Upload every file from the "BattlEye" folder to the /arma3/config/battleye/ directory on the server.
- Upload the files listed below from the "@ExileServer" folder to the server's "arma3" directory:
- Folder: extDB
- File: extDB2.dll
- File: extdb-conf.ini
- File: tbb.dll
- File: tbbmalloc.dll
- Upload the folder "@ExileServer" the the server's ressource directory (folder: arma3)
- The path should be: /arma3/@ExileServer/
configure config.bin (@ExileServer/addons)
- Open the "exile_server_config.pbo" file (directory: /@ExileServer/addons/) with the PBOManager programm.
- Extract and copy the "config.bin" file to your PC's desktop.
- Use the cfgConvert programm to convert the "config.bin" file to "config.cpp".
- There is a detailed explanation about the usage on the download page. The programm also ships with a GUI if you so desire.
- Open the created "config.cpp" file with an text editor and edit the following lines:
serverPassword="KAPPAchangeMeKAPPA";
Replace KAPPAchangeMeKAPPA with another password of your choosing.
Also edit the lineIReadAndModifiedThisByMyWishes = 0;
and change the value to 1:IReadAndModifiedThisByMyWishes = 1;
. - Use the cfgConvert programm to convert the "config.cpp" file back to "config.bin".
- Use the PBOManager to import the "config.bin" file back into the server's PBO file (exile_server_config.pbo).
- Upload the "exile_server_config.pbo" file back to your server's /arma3/@ExileServer/addons/ directory.
configure config.cfg (@ExileServer)
- Open the server's Webinterface > Server > File Browser
- Edit the "config.cfg" file located in the /arma3/@ExileServer/ direcotry.
- Change the following line:
serverCommandPassword = "KAPPAchangeMeKAPPA";
Replace the "KAPPAchangeMeKAPPA" value with the password you previously entered in the config.cpp / config.bin file and click on save.
configure server.cfg (arma3)
- Open the server's Webinterface > Server > File Browser
- Edit the "server.cfg" file located in the /arma3/config/ direcotry.
- Change the following line:
template = Stratis;
Change "Starts" to "Exile.Altis;" and save the file.
It should look like this:template = Exile.Altis;
Import the MySQL database
- Download the database dump file: [database]
- Open the server's Webinterface > Dashboard > phpMyAdmin
- Click on the database "niXXX_X_DB" in the left collumn to select it.
- Select the "SQL" tab from the top menu bar.
- Open the file "ExileAltis-0.9.19.txt" using a text editor.
- Copy the file's contents (STRG + A, STRG + C)
- Paste the content's into the "SQL" (STRG + V) and press "OK".
configure extdb-conf.ini (arma3)
- Open the server's Webinterface > Server > File Browser
- Edit the "extdb-conf.ini" file located in the /arma3/ directory.
- Enter the server's RCON password in the "RemoteAccess" > "Password" section of the file. The server's Rcon password is located in the "beserver.cfg" file (folder: /arma3/config/battleye)
- Adjust the MySQL credentials in the file's "[exile]" section like this:
- Name = database name (niXXXXXX_X_DB)
- Username = database username (niXXXXXX_X_DB)
- Password = database password
- IP = server address (msXXX.nitrado.net)
- Save the file
Adjust the server's start parameter
- Open the server's Webinterface > Server > Settings
- Add the mods in the "Additional Mods" field like this:
@Exile;@ExileServer;
- Enable the AutoInit function
- Save the settings
ArmA 3 Exile is now installed on the server.
